Went to the temple and now we're married
Finally the last night alone in my apartment (October 6th). The excitement and anticipation was more than one can handle. When the next day came all I could do was sing "all my bags are packed I am ready to go". Our apartment was ready and waiting our return. What was going to happen next I would have never guessed. Tom and I were waiting outside of our apartment with three bags for our ride to show. I couldn't help, but pace around in worry they we would miss our flight. We finally got to the point where we needed to drive ourselves so that we wouldn't miss our own wedding. Tom was born a police officer. He was weaving around traffic, driving like a mad man to the airport. Upon arrival the airport I stopped white knuckling the door to then sprint from the parking lot to inside the terminal. I don't care how comfortable flip flops are they are not made to be sprinted in especially with two bags on your shoulders. You think the relief has arrived once we got to the Southwest check-in counter, but think again. All the other airlines had no check-in line, but Southwest, my goodness, you would think they are giving away seats with how long the line was. It only gets better when the Southwest worker tells the man in front of us you might make the LAX flight if you go as fast as you can. So dashing through the airport we go and luckily we made it on the flight. We arrived in California to see friends and family. The only thing I could manage myself to eat was Jack in the Box tacos and mashed potatoes. Tom on the other hand kept his normal appetite. At the LA temple apartments I couldn't get myself to sleep due to the anticipation. I am one lucky girl with a fiance texting me from the other side of the wall. On October 8th my morning started early 5:30am early. My mom, Bill, and myself headed to Huntington Beach to get my hair done and then to Newport to the temple. The whole trip I couldn't help myself, but look at my cell phone watching the minutes slowly pass till our wedding time. 11:00 is taking forever. At almost 9:30 we got to the temple and saw Tom for the first time. I was nervous beyond belief, but he had a smile so huge. He had the look of a kid at the candy store. The whole ceremony was unique and such a special moment with all of our friends and family near. Now it would be complete without some silly moments, come on I am marrying Tom. If Tom saying "I do" too early in the ceremony didn't get enough laughs going, me trying to push Tom's wedding ring on his right hand sure did. Lesson learned: if the ring isn't fitting something is probably wrong. After pictures pictures and more pictures we began our journey through LA traffic. We had lunch in Manhattan Beach at Baja Fresh with Tom in his tux. The drive to the Bacara in Santa Barbara felt like eternity. What was with that day? I swear someone was playing with time and making it go by very slow. I was so beat, exhausted, and Tom was all of the above and more. Being stuck in traffic for hours upon hours in stick shift causes too much tiredness. Finally after 7 hours of driving we made it to Paradise. The resort was amazing! We drove up to Porches, Rolls Royce, you name any top of the line car it was there. We were taken on a tour of the property which was beautiful and then were taken to our room. Chocolate dipped strawberries and sparking cider were awaiting us, I feel as though I had died and gone to Heaven. More to come...
